KNOW YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS

by Funmi Omoniyi November 19, 2018 41 Comments

Hey ladies, It’s been quite a while without a blog post- I know I promised to make this more regular but its been very busy and the days have flown by too quickly. Can you believe its almost Christmas? Well, Merry Christmas in advance to all our clients and potential clients!

We have had a lot of questions about the types of hair extensions we carry at  www.qualityhairbylawlar.com and we hope this post addresses any questions you may have and serve as a guide when purchasing hair extensions from us. We would try to cover how we source each texture, the longevity as well as the versatility of each hair type.

  • RAW INDIAN HUMAN HAIR: This is by far the softest and most luxurious of all our hair extensions. We source this hair from a temple in Hyderabad Southern India. The hair is cut in a pony tail style (or sometimes from the base) from 1 – 3 donors (cuticles in same direction), hackled to get rid of as much short hairs as possible, washed thoroughly and double wefted into bundles. We have the Straight, kinky, Wavy and Curly textures. Our curly textures are achieved through gentle rollers steam processing to get the curls. We have tested this hair and its easy to curl, bleach and color- this hair is so soft it literally just flows and bounces. This collection is RAW, doesn’t appear silky and will last well over 2 years if properly maintained and even more If sewn into a wig. We guarantee nil to very minimal shedding and no tangling or matting.

  • RAW VIETNAMESE HUMAN HAIR: The hair in this collection is soft, thick and voluminous. We source this hair from Hanoi in Vietnam. Like our Raw Indian hair, this hair is also cut from 1 – 3 donors in a ponytail style or from the base. After cutting, the hair is tied up, hackled, washed and double wefted in the same direction its been cut- to keep the cuticles aligned. We have the Straight, Wavy and Curly textures. Our curly textures are achieved through gentle rollers steam processing to get the curls. We have tested this hair and its easy to curl and straighten. When it comes to bleaching and coloring, this hair because of its thickness requires a more professional touch and we advise you to get premium quality coloring products (you can color this hair with regular beauty supply coloring products- but you will need to use more tubs than if you invest in professional coloring tubs). This collection is RAW, doesn’t appear silky and will last well over 2 years if properly maintained and even more If sewn into a wig. If you love volume and thickness- this is the collection for you. We guarantee nil to very minimal shedding and no tangling or matting.

  • BRAZILIAN, PERUVIAN & MONGOLIAN TEXTURED HUMAN HAIR: These 3 types of hair textures are sourced the same way. A lot of research was done at the start of the business and we realized how difficult / impossible it was to get real Brazilian, Mongolian or Peruvian hair- that is if they exist at all! Based on our findings- we realised most of the bundles labelled Brazilian, Peruvian & Mongolian are Indian hair that has undergone some form of steam and conditioning process and that’s why we refer to ours as Brazilian, Peruvian & Mongolian textured. We teamed up with our contacts in India to source multiple donor (ranges from one to thousands of donors) and send them to our contact in China for processing as follows:

  • Brazilian Textured: Washed & gently hot steam processed using high quality conditioning and moisturising products to produce that silky, soft feel. This texture is the silkiest of our collection.
  • Peruvian Textured: This hair is textured a little coarser than the Brazilian texture (basically spends less time in the industrial steaming machine) It hence appears to be thicker and more voluminous than the Brazilian texture.
  • Mongolian Textured: This hair undergoes a more coarser technique and requires a lot of manual approach to get that rough kinky look (worker scrunch with a comb a few times during the steam processing)

We carry these 3 textures in straight, curly & wavy styles. We have tested these hairs and can confirm that they are very easy to bleach, color, straighten & curl. We do our best to align the cuticles but its very difficult as the hair is from multiple sources. We have processed the hair in this collection without any chemicals or silicone and guarantee absolutely no tangle or matting and very manageable shedding. Please note the bundles may have some short hairs and uneven ends. We have had customers re use their bundles at least 2 times and have seen a good 2 years plus longevity if the hair in this collection is made into a wig.

  • RUSSIAN HUMAN HAIR: This hair has a lot of movement, shine & similar texture as Western hair. We majorly source this collection from Ukraine / Russia (Slavic part) from multiple donors. These hairs usually come in light, medium & dark brown but can easily be bleached / toned & colored to achieve most blonde / brown shades. The hair in this collection holds & retains curls well. We guarantee absolutely no tangle or matting and very manageable shedding. We have had customers re use their bundles at least 2 times and have seen a good 2 years plus longevity if the hair in this collection is made into a wig.

In summary, quality is our watchword when we source our hairs. All our collections (Raw / Textured/ Russian) are great value for money. We carry different types as we understand individual preferences and affordability. We hope this post is helpful- please feel free to drop your comments and share ideas as well.

Warm Regards,

Funmi.
